About

About Dan

I came to this work through the theatre, and I have been a therapist for over twenty-five years.

Training and working as an actor, I became fascinated by what happens when we bring our own experience honestly into a role, and by the deep connection between performance and psychology. Discovering that dramatherapy existed felt like finding something I had been looking for without quite knowing it.

I graduated from The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2000 and have worked as a therapist ever since, over twenty-five years, with individuals, couples, groups and young people, across private practice and a range of community, clinical and educational settings. Alongside my practice I teach Introduction to Dramatherapy at the City Lit in Covent Garden, and I supervise other therapists and professionals in the caring professions.

As Jung observed, every person is unique, so every therapeutic relationship and every course of therapy is unique. I work with the person in front of me rather than the problem on paper, in a holistic way. I believe that no approach can do much without a genuine, trusting relationship at its heart, and building that is where we begin.
